PlayMaker Award

Support Sport have recently received a small pot of funding to start delivering the PlayMaker Award in primary schools for children aged 9+.

The PlayMaker Award is a nationally accredited certificate from Sports Leaders UK. We at Support Sport feel that this award will be massively beneficial to the youth of today, helping the children to gain new skills and even boost their confidence and self-esteem. Some of the benefits and skills gained from this award will be:
  • Leadership skills
  • Communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Refereeing and officiating different game
This award can be delivered before, during or after school and will run for a total of 10 weeks. The sessions will be mainly practical however each child will have their own leadership journal, this will be used to record their leadership experiences.

Following the completion of the Award, the Playmakers will have the leadership skills to be able to lead small groups of peers whilst being supervised. Also they will be able to set up activities which a familiar to them or simple to understand.

"Being a PlayMaker is fun and exciting to learn things. We make games up for children and we get better each week."
